SOLVED: How do I correctly re-insert a spring on the model M?
« on: Sat, 06 February 2010, 13:10:58 »
Hi. I've just managed to have a spring jump out of my model M when experimenting with an alternative layout.

I can manage to put it sort-of back in, but it's not stuck as well as the other springs appear to be (and I'm not going to yank on the other ones now!)

Anyway, the key is now non-clicky, non-feedback and unreliable.

Is there a good way to get the spring back right without having to open up the whole board? As far as I can tell there's an upturned V "groove" that it should stick onto, but I can't really see it that well.

Cheers,
SP.

Try looking in the mods section of the forum since there are two spring removal/installation guides in this very section.  Like where you posted (I can be obnoxious since your post count is over 10).

Oh OK, here.

I don't care that you're obnoxious. I'm just glad that you responded so quickly :)

Thanks, I'll have a look.

Oh, sorry about that. I figured the mods section would be the most likely place where people would know about replacing springs.
