HHKP2 issues
« on: Sun, 19 July 2009, 12:52:59 »
Today is just turned my laptop on, and i found that the "zxcv..." row of keys wasnt registering. I thought this odd, so i removed and then plugged in the cable again, and it seemed to solve whatever problem it was. Also does the HKKP2 lacks any type of NUMLOCK way of input? When i activate the numlock in my laptop there's the iopjklm keys that turn into numbers but this doesnt seem to happen when i turn the numlock on in the laptop keyboard and press those keysin the HHK, which was what it make me to think that there is no NUMLOCK feature here. My main question is if there«s no NUMLOCK feature here.

I have noticed similar things with mine. I have turned it on to find that it has a numlock on? and the uiojlknm ish keys are inputting numbers and some others nothing. I just unplug and plug it back in when it does this.
What OS do you run?

This numpad-emulation of your laptop keyboard is probably done by its keyboard controller, so the HHKB cannot use this functionality.

Its an odd one for sure.
I have also found that with my HH. It will not register any inputs when I initially boot the system. I have to press some keys and wait before it will start typing.
And it has done this with 3 motherboards and 3 different OS's.
I think the HH PCB is just a bit of a strange one.

Most mother boards with a PS/2 connector do not enable USB keyboard suppport by default. So you can't use your HHKB Pro until the OS boots up and installs a keyboard driver. So if you want to use your HHKB Pro before the OS boots you need to enable it in the BIOS. But be warned some older mother boards do not have this feature and expect you to use a PS/2 keyboard if you want to edit or modify the BIOS settings.

Neither HHKB Pro 2 I've owned has ever given me any trouble in OS X. I've even used it to trigger Boot Camp (XP Pro).

It works fine in the bios. Again though I have to hit delete a few times before it will register an input.
Or say I have had a windows crash and I get to the boot screen.
To pick start windows normally I have to press enter about 5 times.
Both of the HH keyboards I have had have done this.

I have USB keyboard support on in the BIOS :)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAnnyway. I don't know if any of this is helping the op.
