Fan controller
« on: Wed, 19 September 2012, 10:28:58 »
I've been looking at fan controllers for over a month now and I don't seem to be getting anywhere. I've looked all over the net (newegg, tigerdirect, etc) and can't find anything that gets solid good reviews. Are fan controllers that hit or miss?

I need a fan controller for 5 fans. I don't need variable speed just on and off but I don't really like the switch type ones I see everywhere because they only run at 7v max. I think I am leaning towards the Scythe controllers but I don't need all the features it has. It does come with all the extensions I would need that is a plus.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I had great experiences with a scythe Kaze Q, which is a 3.5" 4 slot variable controller. I can't speak for any 5.5" bay controllers, but the technology isn't really that complicated. You could even DIY it with some fan splitters, switches, and some soldering ability.

It might be worth considering using a case with an integrated fan controller if the scythe models dont tickle your fancy. The NZXT Phantom has a five fan controller built in I think.

Get the nzxt mix or mesh both and great and can suport high end fans i believe fractle is coming out with a 6 fan one based on the same design as well. Most other ones can only do one amp total which if you buy good fans is only good for  3-4 fans max if not less.
