What kind of keys are these that the legends will never rub off?

In the description, it looks like it is clear switches.

It looks like it says it at the bottom.

I looked again and unless I missed it, there's nothing about the keys except a claim they never wear.

I looked at decks website and there is no info there either about the key material or process, just the same emphatic claim.

I'm just curious.

I was looking and this is what I turned up on their website

Quote
12. Will the letters on the keycaps wear off eventually?

NEVER! Characters can't chip off the key caps or wear down because we use a sublimated negative printing process which drives the ink into the plastic keycaps at 525°F. This means permanent printing from the inside out, not just on the top, and gives the letters a permanent place inside the plastic.

This looks like something other than doubleshot.

I like the caps tho, anything wear resistant on an illuminated board would be a nice addition.

I guess it depends on the version of the keyboard?  This has gotten me confused >.< Sort of not liking these caps.

Maybe there's a dye sub as well?

They are not doubleshot they are a 2 piece keycap with black dyesub on a semi opaque white PBT top with a black 'skirt'. They never used doubleshots on these, they always had these type of 2 piece dyesub. Perhaps the caps being 2 piece was confused with doubleshot.

Well that's an interesting way to make backlit keycaps.

It's patented too which is why they aren't seen on any keyboards other than TG3s (Deck). However the edge between the two shots seems visible on every keycap (I haven't use one personally so I wouldn't know if that is noticeable).

I would like to try out a set of these caps, but there is some tremendous bleed on the back lighting on these keyboards.

Buy a TG3 BL82 instead for $50 + shipping. Not a full keyboard set, and weird for a sub TKL layout but at least it doesn't have the silly Deck font.

Oh, it's noticeable all right.   ;D

I just got my first TG3 today, from the pictures it almost looked like the keycaps had labels on each one.  Up close you can see the line between the two cap materials, but there's no apparent raised seam.  The inner portion of each keycap is a different texture, but they feel great, kind of like a less "gritty" PBT.

I kind of like the font, but the keyboard itself is just plain butt-ugly, and the way they handled the secondary legends is totally clumsy.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Actually, I like the way TG3/Deck does the secondary labels.  I got a CM Storm Trigger board as my first back-lit mechanical, and it was a complete PITA to type on in dim light.  Oh, the backlight worked great to tell the "C" key apart from the "X," but all the secondary labels are in the non-backlit portion of the keycaps.

It's not that good of a price considering, but is anyone waiting to snipe this?

I'm a big fan of illuminated boards, and especially supposedly "indestructible" ones. But I just put out too much green after discovering mech keyboards recently.

If my wife knew I would be !@#$%^& proper.

Wow I never even bothered to look for a new Clear BL82...

I'm aware of the mod that needs to be performed specifically for the MX Clear BL82... is that documented here somewhere? I tried searching in the past.

My only complaint with the Deck 82 / TG3 BL82 is how tall it is.  It caused a bit of wrist/hand pain in my situation.  You definitely want to use something like this with it:  http://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboards-MacBooks-Notebooks-Neoprene/dp/B004DANDN4/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1366684382&sr=8-15&keywords=keyboard+wrist+rest

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151033472429?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649

Now $75 starting bid, and $125 buy it now.

I might be tempted by the Toxic version at that price, but not the Frost.  Does look nice with the clear case option, though.
