Cherry MX Green vs Clear ?

I am about to purchase a code keyboard which is so popular I see these days.
And I am about to make a decision abot switch between mx green and clear.
I want to know your ideas, and here is my profile :
I like  tactile feedback, I dont like clicky noise, because I live in a dorm with my roommate.

Clear then.

Personally, I prefer the Greens. As with Blues, you get a little more tactile feedback from the 2 piece stem/slider. However, you also get more noise.

Yes, there is a difference in the tactile feedback between Greens and Clears, Clears are MORE tactile, by a large degree actually. Too many people are feeling with their ears, mistaking the audible click for tactile feedback. The tactile bump is the same as on Brown stems and presents the same tactile resistance, but there's actually even less of a drop in force after the bump than there is on Browns (about16cN vs about 12cN), let alone Clears. Look at the force diagrams if you don't believe me. For those who still disagree, try using some good isolating in-ear headphones with music playing and see how tactile your Greens feel then.



If you want tactile, get Clears. If you want clicky, get Buckling springs or clicky Alps. Better tactility AND better sounding click.

As Oobly stated (with great photo), clears are more tactile than Greens.  And quieter, too.

Greens use a two part stem to emulate a click within the linear design of Cherry MX.  This leads to negative effects such as Hysteresis

Sounds like your first mechanical keyboard. A code with MX clear is perfect for you.
Then you can get into Topre switches ($$$).

I always thought that greens were too heavy for my liking. Stock clears much less so. They're quite nice.

I find Matias quiet switch the most tactile, non-noisy switch-- more than any Cherry MX or Topre.

Some people get hung up on a single component, such as the size of the "bump", on the overall switch assembly when considering tactility; or hung up on force charts. The greens have the slider which not only adds noise but adds tactile feedback as well. Force charts don't take vibration into account. Think about how much your phone vibrates (if you have the feature enabled) when you type on it. A force chart and the devices used to measure the force can't measure the vibration of your phone which many would agree is more noticeable than the resistance you get from the screen of your phone.

Now, whether greens or any other switches are more tactile than one or the other is really up to the user to decide since force charts only take resistance into account and nothing else. Personally, I have used greens and clears and clears feel like a "heavier" brown and greens feel like a "heavier" blue. I feel I get more tactile feedback from the additional movement in the blues and greens than any other Cherry switches I've tried.

I decided to try Greens when I bought my Leopold FC660M. But I couldn't get used to them as the click and smaller bump didn't give me enough feedback to my liking.
Since someone else wanted the Greens they offered to switch it out with Clears and I have been using it a lot more.

Force diagrams show tactile feedback very well, since tactility is related only to the sense of touch, of forces felt by the fingers, which is precisely what a force diagram is measuring. They can of course also measure vibration, it will show as a wavy line on the chart, since after all it's a directional oscillating change in FORCE. Besides, the "click" of Blue and Green switches does not introduce a change in force (vibration) of any significant strength, it's almost entirely auditory (and the part that isn't is transfered to the switch CASE, not the slider which is isolated from the case by a tensioned spring).

The auditory confirmation of switch activation enhances the perceived tactility by the senses complementing and enhancing each other.

tldr; Clears are more tactile, although some people perceive Greens to me more "tactile" due to the sound confirming the actuation of the switch.

Greens are a lot heavier than you think. I love both switches, but you will want clears. I guatantee it.
