Different coloured brown switch?
« on: Sat, 06 July 2013, 00:45:42 »
When cleaning my Filco MJ1 the other day I noticed that the switch under my "H" key was a different (lighter) colour brown. On closer inspection the logo also seems to be slightly different. I finally got around to taking some pictures so here they are:

The bevels at the base of the stem are much smoother on the lighter coloured one and the ridges on the top of the stem are also a little different. Can anyone tell me what I'm looking at?

More pictures:

Photos aren't the best quality since I took them with my phone

I've noticed this too with some loose stems I got from a member here. But I've never seen two different colors on the same board.

There are minor variation between batches. If I were to guess, it may be a reworked board on the production line, and the switch bin is different batch than their production line switch bin.

There are Cherry factories in Germany, The Czech Republic, and China. There are many machines with different molds and different batches of plastic at each factory.

Well this explains it, I figured it would be something like that. Thanks for the info.

It's a light brown switch, which just means it ate a lot of fiber that morning.
