It varies. The general consensus is that elite typists use MX Blue (Sean Wrona and most at his speed do as well).
I'm not near his speed (only low-140's best), but I think that Blues are infinitely better. Whoever tells you that tactility distracts from typing is definitely incorrect, because good typists get used to the mid-press bump and reset their fingers faster. Accuracy is, in all cases that I've heard, improved with Blues. Some can get higher raw speed, but there are so many more errors that the overall speed is much lower. If you want typing, Blue>Brown>Red>Black (not including rarer switches).

All of the fastest typists bottom out though...apparently you claim you don't at 130-140..I'd l really like to see that....At slower speeds I can see it...and I can see only losing some speed in doing it..but not bottoming out completely?  Nope...I'd love to see it though..it would be something to work towards...

You're wrong. Typing without bottoming out greatly increases speed, and any good typist (including myself, if I may have the hubris of implying thus).

By the way, the whole point of a mechanical keyboard is to not bottom out. You don't type any faster than on a dome keyboard if you don't bottom out, because you completely lose the benefit of not having to press as far.

these people TRAIN to type fast right?  as in theytype to get faster at typing, not necessarily to do productive work. 

if that is the case, I think they would have different typing patterns than regular typists.  they would train themselves to feel the bump and consciously reset, even though this is both mentally tiring and physically 'complex'.

I've asked many people when I was trying to get better, when I was sub-110. They all told me that (using MX Brown) it was pointless to bottom out, because you're just forcing it. A mechanical has absolutely no advantage over a rubber dome if you can't use it like it's supposed to be. The idiots who smash their boards and wonder why their speeds are so low on a mechanical fall victim to this.

Honestly though, I don't understand what your problem with my post is. I gave him the evidence that he wanted (me typing at 130-140), my profile, and everything. So unless something else is the matter?

And this coming from the guy that has an opinion on every keyboard but has tried almost none of them?  I'm not 130+wpm fast but I'm 120+wpm fast...which is perfectly fine with me....and I'm still using QWERTY..

And because I use "...." which I've been doing in posts probably longer than you've been alive, that is a reflection on how fast I type?  Seriously, if I was interested in getting faster I'd used a different layout that I know works better (see how you rarely move from home row with DVORAK?) but I'm pretty happy with where I'm at...I don't need anymore speed...Just as you're happy with your speed and bottoming out more often than you think but not on every stroke...

Again, show us typing where you're not bottoming out at 130+wpm and I'll say that person is right...I haven't seen it..I don't think people can do it...when you're typing for speed, you will bottom out..maybe not every time but you will bottom out..often...

Then it changes to "oh...well with 30% bottoming out"..it was actually more than that but it doesn't matter...

I'm not sure how my question got posed to whether I think someone can type whatever WPM they're claiming to..no reason to not believe them..This is a keyboard forum, I'm sure plenty of people type fast on here....

It seems to me that you are the one that has issues with everyone else, not visa-versa.  BroCaps is a (reasonably) well respected member of the community, and has been here for years before you showed up.  Now all of the sudden HE is the troll?  Sorry, don't think so...

Not to mention that you have already had several conflicts with many other forum members (myself included).  And again, you blame everyone else for these altercations instead of manning up and admitting that you're wrong.  If you were right, people would tend to agree with your statement(s).

ALWAYS bottoming out is not bottoming out on every keystroke.. It means you bottom out while typing but obviously some of it won't be if you're typing fast enough...
