Matias Rumors: New announcement soon? What is it?
« on: Thu, 12 December 2013, 11:21:29 »
Saw this thread on DT (Title is "Matias Hints at New Switch") and I'm wondering if the announcement is Matias' 60% board that was being discussed here. Deskthority thinks it might be a new switch or improved switch design.

In any case? I'm really excited about new Matias stuff. I really like their keyboards and switches. Anyone else care to venture a guess?

Jdcarpe posted this little tidbit from the 60% boards thread. I missed the exact meaning of this post so apparently there should be a product announcement sometime very soon.

This just sounds better the more I read about it! Really can't wait to see the mock up drawings. Any timeframe for that happening?

We're doing another product announcement beginning of December.  I'll be able to reveal some details on the 60% then.

The 3D drawings should be ready by Dec/Jan, which is when I'd post the interest check.  We'd likely start taking orders soon after.

Well Matias posted in the thread involving a new cherry switch originally. So that is why there are some who believe in a new switch.
I'm hoping for something with led alps capability. Or someone mentioned a Matias mouse, that would be cool. Matias mouse buttons.

I'd be into this but I'd love to see a new switch type. And like I said in the OP, I really want their 60% Alps GB to come to fruition.

Yes please!

They need to make mechanical keyboard with casebody that doesn't look like year 2000 Apple Macintosh! I know I am not the only one that gives their products a pass because of the style aesthetics. Something more sleek, slab like with sharp corners please!

Something with MX compatible stems?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Isn't this post better to be at Matias vendor forum if you want him to respond? :)

Then we don't need to speculate. Ha ha.

Nope, I want to speculate. They'll make the announcement when they're ready regardless of where I post this.

Back when I was a kid, waiting for gifts at Christmas was something magical.
It was also excruciatingly painful to see the clock slowing down (tic......taking forever.... tac ) every second while we were running out of patience.
I don't care anymore. My stupid credit card took all that away.

Until now. Thank you Matias for reviving the magic of Christmas :-) Can't wait to see what surprise you will come up with.

And similar to few insinuations above - I just hope you are not going to do a Unicomp of yourself.

I see the delete (or is it remove) link there sometimes.  Maybe it is just section-specific?
