Keyboard stores in the Philippines?
« on: Tue, 17 December 2013, 03:08:59 »
I'm vacationing in the Philippines for another two weeks and was wondering if anyone knew of any places in the vicinity of Manila that sell keyboards?

I'm vacationing in the Philippines for another two weeks and was wondering if anyone knew of any places in the vicinity of Manila that sell keyboards?

The Philippines is the wrong place to be looking for keyboards...new ones at least...the market here likes cheap affordable things.  Hence the site http://www.tipidpc.com  (tipid in english means thrifty or affordable).  That's where much a bulk of computer stuff is sold for enthusiasts and power users that can't find what they want at the mall.  The distributors and retailers prefer to sell online since it reduces their costs...most of the non-mainstream items are all order-basis.

For second-hand stuff...there are A LOT of e-recycler/junk shops but I've yet to check if they have keyboards worthwhile checking out...honestly...

Anyway, regarding the keyboard scene:
- The local Ducky distributor doesn't replenish stocks (had to buy my Shine 2 in Hong Kong) and doesn't sell in stores (sells through resellers/retailers on tipidpc.com)
- The local Filco distro is apparently just on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/GosuGearsPH)
- There's a lot of Razer stuff at the malls and big computer shops (PC Express http://pcx.com.ph) and PC Gilmore http://pcgilmore.com.ph)
- there are limited CM Storm stuff are in computer shops
- I once saw a Mionix Zibal 60 in a high-end computer shop once...sat on the shelf until the shop closed down (high-end wares in a low- to mid-end mall)
- The store DataBlitz in malls sell pc and console games and has a HHKB on display...I think it's limited to 1 unit per store...to expensive for most consumers here

Did you say "another two weeks"?  ANOTHER?  ANOTHER TWO WEEKS?  WAIT.  YOU ARE IN MANILA...LIKE NAOW?  FORGET KEYBOARDS.  HANG OUT WITH ME AND BOB AND GRUMBLEGUT!  PM MEEEE...

Edit: added stuff about keyboards that I just remembered

You seem to be spot on about the availability of mechanical keyboards. I saw a lot of Razers, and a few CMs, but no Filco's or Ducky's. Saw some Azio's and some other new names. I'm not really out to buy another keyboard (I never am, until I buy one, LOL) but I figured I could at least try them out if I saw them.

Pinoy GH Meetup, Woo!!!

Can you guys get to MegaMall? That's the closest to me, and I've got a wife and a baby daughter with me, so wear a shirt with sleeves, comb your hair, etc. (I'm kidding!) Most of my free time is going to be with my in-laws, eating; that's how I would title my Filippino Adventure: "Krog Eats Delicious Stuff He Cannot Pronounce" - I can get clear of the in-laws tomorrow if you can make it to MegaMall. That place is jumpin' with holiday madness.

Actually, I've got the day clear up until around 5 pm. So lunch would be good. You can buy the beer, and I'll get the pulutan.
