EK Mechlube 1 vs Mechlube 2
« on: Wed, 12 March 2014, 09:44:02 »
Hi guys,

Just wondering which lubricant would be the best for lubing unlubed keyboards. Or are they same?

Mechlube 1

Mechlube 2

Thanks

^^ one of these is better :thumb:

I need it for MX Blues and Browns.
Which one should I get? Thick or Very Thick?

Also, I should tell you that I only plan to lube the stabilizers, so I don't need to get the best one out there. Is there something superior about Krytox over the Mechlube?

If you not lubing switches then I guess it doesn't matter maybe, I thought since you said you needed it for blues and browns you were lubing switches.

Krytox just comes highly recommended by the majority of users.

There are some tips here

Personally I haven't lubed any mx switches yet, but I do have the thick and very thick lubes, I used thick on my HHKB.

I can say mechlube 1 is way too viscous for any switch. I would use Krytox... or Superlube on the cheap.

I've used Mechlube 1 for lubing costar and Cherry stabilizers, and it's worked great for me :thumb:

I used the mechlube 2 for my stabilizers in my hhkb the first time and it did the job but I used the Krytox mix thick version from mkawa (techkeys, originative) on all the slider housings and stabilizers this time and it works amazingggggggggg.

It's all lube in the end. I got the Blue Mechlube just for stablizers. Works fine. Which ever is cheaper I guess.

^^ Everyone has opinions on lube just like switches, springs, key caps, etc. However all lube isn't created equal and getting the cheapest option is not the best advice.

Just spray some WD-40 in there.  ;)
