I started using eBay (I don't consider half.com eBay) when I started on Geekhack. Previously I was skeptical and refused to use it. Half.com was for textbooks. Same thing with PayPal.

I have 3 accounts. The oldest one dates from September 28, 2000, and has something short of 700 transactions, predominantly record and CD sales. The other 2 are from 2008 and 2009, as I recall, with about 100-200 each.

Citizens United violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president.
So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect and sometimes get favors for themselves after the election’s over.”

My account was created in 2007, but I know I was buying stuff using my dad's account when I was in middle school, so I've been using it since at least 2003.

A very long time but probably not 16 years. I remember buying my first Model M on ebay at $0.99 (after reading a comment on /. about Model M being great and indestructible and all that)... Way before I knew Geek Hack!

Not as long for me, about 9 or 10 years. I still remember the first thing I ever bought - a Sega Saturn bundled with a bunch of games. Got the entire thing for around $50 after a few weeks of trying to figure out Ebay and losing every bid.

Sept 2004 but I know I had an account in early 2002. People thought I was crazy, eBay took forever to take off in Australia.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. i created my ebay account to get a thermocouple to use in a engineering project freshman year of 2008 or 09

I was first on ebay to look at model ms in 2007 though. I decided that $20 was too expensive at the time, and did not make an account.

Not to blow my own horn, well, maybe.

This thread has gotten a bit mucked up with junk, but I do think that there is valuable stuff there, especially for newbies.
