Is it possible to switch springs on QWERKEYS 8 Switch Tester V2 ?
« on: Mon, 15 September 2014, 21:09:06 »
Hello members. I'm going to buy a QWER Key 8 switch tester V2 very soon, and i wanted to know if i could switch the springs in the switches super simple ? I wanted to get 8 springs in different weights like for example
8 in 55g
8 in 58g
8 in 60g
8 in 62g
8 in 65g
8 in 68g

i want to know whats the right switch in the right weight for me. so when i do build my mech keyboard i want it right for me i don't just want to guess in thinking what might be right for me.

If you already have the springs try the max keyboard one. The switches aren't soldered onto anything and pop out easily for an easy disassembly of switches

The max keyboards one is 8 switch as well?
I have one sitting on my desk with clear, red, black, grey, blue, green, white and brown switches.

QWER tester V1 was just a metal plate with plastic legs - I believe V2 is the same, just bigger.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You can. I have a QWER8 right here next to me that I got for free a little while back. You can pop the switches out of the QWER8 'case' and you can easily swap springs if you have the right tools for it.
