Heya all. First off, thank you all for the tremendous amount of information and insight you have here. In my quest to find a keyboard similar to one I loved many years ago, I learned more from geekhack than I ever thought there was to know about keyboards.
My "click depth" question will make sense in a moment -- hang in there. I like my old IBM model M, but it's a tad too strong on resistance for me. While searching for the same click but less resistance, I bought and tried the Scorpius M10 to get a feel for the blue cherries. Besides the fact that the Scorpius I received had a defect, the keys were too weak, and the "click depth" was too high.
Meaning, if I were to press on the key in slow motion, about 40% of the way down I encounter the click on the Scorpius M10, then I have 60% of key travel remaining before I bottom out. On the model M, I find the opposite: 60% travel until click, then 40% remaining until bottoming out.
From what I read of various experiences on this site, it sounds like the ...is it the fake white alps? ...of the
Filco Zero Tenkeyless might have the resistance strength I'm looking for: stronger than any of the cherries, but not quite as strong as the bucking switches of the IBM M series. If that's true, I would love to hear from you if you have this particular keyboard and could tell me roughly how far down you press the key before it "clicks".
Thanks again!
