GON makes some sweet stuff, pricey though if you let him build it. If you want to save some time and money you could just order all the parts (I'm sure GON or someone else could help you compile the parts) and have someone just build it for you.

yes thats what i was thinking too!!!

so i bought the housing already still need PCb and a little confused as to whether I need to buy diodes and resistors and bolts

You will need the through hole diodes he sells as well as SMD resistors and both SMD and in switch through hole LEDs.

You said you talked to GON, yeah?

Ask him, he's nice.

If you want LEDs and switches, you'll need diodes and resistors and things like that. Ask GON about which ones to get.

I just realised it just now... Before our conversation was mainly about lead time, which colour and engraving lol .. I will ask him tmr ... It's 2 am in korea ...

Btw just realise it's so adorable u name ur keyboards so curious what cersei looks like

i do like the cherry replica but im looking for red..mm whats this gmk set that u said is coming up?

glad to meet a fellow dota player

It's called "Klaxon" or "Red Alert"

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=64679.0

This is the interest check for a GMK version, but you can get a signature plastics version in the classifieds.

Check out the rules for the classifieds here.
If you plan to buy a GMK set which is still in IC, expect to wait for over 6 months to get the caps.

Buying from a GB will take some time. If the GB is currently running it will take 3-4 months.  Just wanted to give you an idea of what to expect.

why aren't clicky boards good for gaming? I play minecraft on my model M's all the time.

And on the subject of keybinds: The numpad is a great place for hotkeys to go.
I don't usually collect things, but when I do, they're from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. My typing speed: 79 WPM

Playing minecraft is different to playing MOBAs/FPSs to a high level. Professional esports players need to have lightning fast reactions, and a lot of top tier players swear by linear switches, especially reds.

And on the subject of keybinds: The numpad is a great place for hotkeys to go.

Again, not really playing Dota, as the default keybinds are QWER and ZXCVBN, plus you are on your mouse all the time.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Okay, but I play a lot of Star Wars battlefront (you can still get multiplayer over tunngle) and have had no issues with my M's. In fact I prefer them to my infinitely less tactile AT101W.

And why are the reds and blacks faster?
(I've never had any MX switches, so please bear with me. Only got two M's and the dell which has ALPS blacks)

Linear MX switches are especially easy to doubletap. Non-linear ones are still pretty easy, but doubletapping is harder to do quickly.

For example, in something like TF2, where doubletapping is vital to avoid damage, a model M won't help you. Something with MX reds/blacks, however, will.

In DotA 2, there's a lot of fast inputs required, and MX blues will let you know that they've actuated. For the same reason, this is why SC2 players love blues as much as they do.

True, but then it could easily be mistaken for any stock plastic case by just looking at it. I vote silver. It will still look nice with different caps. :)

Is almost like a gunmetal?  A dark grey would look really good.

Nice. That is a pretty good looking option. Pretty much any set of caps will look good on it too.

I have never spent 185USD on a set of keycaps and I don't plan to.  That seems very expensive.  They do appear to be GMK though, so they are the best quality keycaps you can buy, so at least that is good.

As a comparison.  Ivan ran a GMK Dolch GB and the (very similar) base set was 110USD.  https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=58608.msg1338971#msg1338971

Keep in mind that GMK GBs do not come up very often, but I know that BunnyLake (https://ctrlalt.io/) is planning to run some GMK buys soon, so you may want to wait for that...

Thats my two cents anyway...

Why are they so expensive? For that kit I don't think I've ever seen a GMK set higher than around $100

Yeah, I thought it was really expensive too.

Apparently this wasn't a group buy, some guy ordered 500 sets using his own money. He said it costed him 89EUROs per set and then there's a 20% tax for goods shipped into China and then the rest is profit for himself I guess.

BunnyLake should have both of his GBs live by the end of the week, so I would recommend checking them when they are up to see if they are to your taste.

the dolch set is so pretty <3 i wonder if anyone would sell theirs on classifieds... i'm also in love with a similar one with led windows on the f row ... but pretty sure i can't find those anywhere.

looking forward to see what bunnylake has to offer in his GB but i'm kind of weary about GBs since I heard they take ages (6months?) - -.

Zeal has some sets of GMK Dolch for sale on his site: http://zealpc.net/collections/keycap-sets/products/dolch

It's marked up a bit from the Group Buy prices, but if you don't find someone willing to sell a set, that's a good option.

Group Buys can take time, sometimes a LONG time (Ivan's Pitch Black PBT one for example has taken more than a year and a couple of 7bit's ones also), but some are pretty short (especially the PMK ones, where you have about a month to order and usually the caps arrive about a month after the orders close).

GMK Group Buys don't happen that often, though, and usually the end product is well worth the wait.

And at least the production part of the GB with GMK buys goes pretty quickly unless you catch them during summer holiday time. Ivan is running one right now (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=66364.0).

BunnyLake will be running a GMK Group Buy for the Hyperfuse set, but I don't know quite when. Here is a pic of the Signature Plastics DCS version:

Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
