Do Blues Really Feel like the New Razer Switches?
« on: Wed, 28 January 2015, 00:49:23 »
I have not tried MX Blue, I chose Reds from the start, and after getting into BS, I had no desire for any other clicky or tactile switch. Now though, I am thinking of supplementing my Leopold F660cM wth the 21-key numpad, but I could only find it with Blues. I have tried out the new Razer Black Widow Ultimate at a local store, and I hated the tepid click and lack of tactility. It seemed like a Red with a weak, necessary click tacked on as a completely separate component (which, of course, it is).

My question now is, do these switches really emulate the feel of Blues, as users have said? I don't think Blues are for me if they do. I mean, if this was the only choice, so be it, but I'm hoping Blues offer something more substantial. I suppose with my experiences, it's all-or-nothing when it comes to tactility and click. I either like linear or chunky BS.

Blues and Reds have the same spring in them. The Razer switch is close enough to be representative of how Cherry Blues will feel.

Yes. If you’re used to the feel of a Model M/Model F, no Cherry MX switches will feel very tactile.

ALPS SKCM (Complicated ALPS) will give you the click you desire.

If the level of tactility in buckling spring is perfect for you, blues will definitely be a step down in the level of click. While the razer switches aren't the best, they're close enough to decide if blues are right for you

Thanks guys, I was afraid you'd say that. I will have to look harder for a good numpad with linear switches, it seems.

Not likely to find one. So buy the blues, replace the switches.
