Help me decide a layout.

Hi all, i'm getting ready to finalize my build, but can't really decide on a layout and figure you guys may can help me decide.


I have a redscarf, and currently I have its layout 'standard'


but I have another one at my office that I use a modified layout with.


I kinda like the second layout a little better, but since that one is pcb mounted, its much easeir to change layouts compared to the plated one in the standard layout. Though I will need to find a 7x spacebar wire somewhere. ( or if someone wants to trade one for a standard wire, or just bend my own )

I should be getting in my keycaps from ivans buy in a month or so ( i hope ) and trying to decide which way to go. The second one has dedicated arrow keys ( the first one I just use the bottom right menu keys as my arrow keys ala pokerX )

My worry is since the PCB on these are incredibly cheap and thin, i don't want to burn out the traces if I decide to desolder everything to change the layout, and then that limits my keycap options quite a bit. I'm also going to solder in LED's, and thats another big hassle.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Sorry I'm no help and this is a tad off subject, but I've only just recently heard about redscarfs. The second layout looks pretty amazing, never seen a layout like that yet. Are these desirable because they are so customizable?

they are just nice because its the cheapest way you can get a compact layout like this without going to a quickfire tk

I like the second layout, it's good.
My RS96 is set up like that. Well ISO but all the rest is similar.
It's a very comfortable layout.
Any 1800 compatible keyset works with it.

originally  i was looking for something similar, grabbed a cheap mk96, liked it, but currently using a 60‰ w/separate 10 key. If you're one that likes the latest greateat keycaps, a standard layout would be better as a lot of keycap sets don't include some of the non-standard keys. But nothing beats having a keyboard layout you love.
