Custom Cable: Fill the gap between Case and Cable
« on: Wed, 02 March 2016, 10:38:46 »
Hello,

So I've made a custom Cable for my filco.

How did you manage to fill the gap between the hole in the case and the cable ?

Used some heatshrink, but It doesn't feel really solid and reliable.

In other word: How do you replace this ? (and how do you call it?)

Option 1 - carefully slit the rubber piece pictured and glue it on the bottom of the cable out of sight.

Option 2 - make a replacement out of Sugru :)

I think I'll go for this one, even if it make a big gap when I put it back on the larger cable's diameter.

In English it would be called a rubber grommet.

Hardware stores sell them, usually for plumbing purposes. If both ends of the cable already have attachments, you will have to cut it.
As George Orwell put it:

Thank you, would never thought that a "grommet" could make the job.
