desoldering single Matias switch on Planck
« on: Sun, 12 March 2017, 07:34:12 »
Is it possible to remove a single Matias switch from a Planck without desoldering every switch on the board? All I've been able to find via Google searches is that this should be possible with MX switches on a universal plate. I haven't been able to find any documentation or videos about Matias switches, though. Follow up question, how would one determine if their Planck has a universal plate or not?

Yeah, you should be able to desolder just one switch and push it out of the mounting plate.

Excellent, thanks for the response!

In case you don't know about this, alps switch top can be removed for switch maintenance without the need of desoldering. On the other hand, MX switch needs cutout for top removal without desoldering.

Yup, +1
I was going to say the same thing... if a switch isnt working, you can try to swap out the top or just re-flow the solder joint with out pulling it out of the PCB.
