IBM Wheelwriter 1500 mod
« on: Sun, 25 November 2018, 10:13:59 »
Tomorrow I shall be the owner of an IBM Wheelwriter 1500 typewriter. :thumb: The previous owner said it doesn't work but that's ok since I'm mainly interested in the keyboard. And if the kb is busted I can simply harvest the caps for my Model Ms.

Does anyone know a hack for getting the kb to work with a desktop computer? I'm not much of a techie so I'm not sure what I'm capable of achieving on my own. I can refurbish but when the trouble is in the electronics I seize up and get the sweats.

I am pretty sure that there is at least one thread here detailing how to do that. Look back maybe 2-3 years?

edit - does this help?

Keep the Wheelwriter as a whole, don’t split the keyboard out, ‘cause it’s heavier than any Korean custom will be

HA! That's actually not a bad idea. I can use the body as a spacious kb tray or make a terrarium!  :thumb:

These will definitely help. Thanks. I just don't know if I'm able to do a full conversion by my lonesome. YIKES!
