Is it too late to ask for a r3 Ctrl? Also looking forward to GB. Hope it can come soon  :thumb:

Is there an alternate option to an NA proxy vendor?

Edit: I approve keeb.io.

Edit: I approve keeb.io.

Does he know? He doesn't usually do pre-orders let alone proxy GBs.

I would assume Jack wouldn't take this on without having his shipping lined up, Rev. 6.x PCB troubles aside.

If I can score another set of OG Cherry POS alphas I'll definitely be in.

As a regular ortho user, I have to say: That is one opinionated ortho layout. You guys actually put the Enter key in the right Shift location?

Weird.

jack will be the proxy for this but to my knowledge mykeyboard is doing most of the logistical work. HOWEVER, keeb.io is purchasing a lot of these and you should be able to get the set from them once it's shipped.

there's an R3 and R4 enter, what more would you have liked? you can put these keycaps anywhere on your ortho board, it doesn't have to be exactly as in the renders - that's why there are many duplicate keys in different rows.

Makes a lot of sense. Enter on tap, shift on hold. (Or CTRL in my case)

I am 100% in. Compared to many 40% GMK addon kits, this is a lot more value.

The point is, if I want keycaps with incorrect legends, I might as well stick to all the 1u keys in other Base + Novelties kit.
I understand you guys want to keep the cost down, but this kinda defeat the point of an ortho-only set.
Anyway, what I’d prefer is something like this (without the alphas of course):

I feel like this kit is meant to be more of an accent ortho Kit. Meant to work with a variety of other existing base sets. Not a stand alone kit minus Alphas.

GMK isn’t cheap (obviously) so a kit like that would drive the price up.

But noting on your first point, R3 and R4 Enter is petty much as standard as it gets on standard (12-Column) ortho layouts.

What key legends are you focusing on being “incorrect”?

+2. Layout supported is also almost perfect. I personally have ~ instead of ESC on R3, but ESC is also fine.
Re: Big Bang kit: it seems to only support R3 and R4 Enter, so I don't see the point of claiming that it is better. The only semi-useful keys I see in that layout are double ctrl/alt/meta/code to replace the cursor keys

Say what...? As far as my limited otrho knowledge goes, that's the standard location for the Enter. That's where I always had it on my Preonic and an accented R4 1u Enter was included in all GMK ortho sets I have.

Don't take my word for it, just do an image search ;)

This is quite a common plank/preonic layout. For the 12X4 or 12X5 at least. Well, i've been putting the enter there ever since I've started using orthos. Where do you put your enter key?
Edit: and what's your regular 'ortho'?

I use full grid layout, so right below 'B', next to Spacebar.
Because, you know, thumb keys and all that.

So which row would that be in GMK profile?

R4.
I never used a Planck before, so I have no idea about their default layout.
Mostly I'm just surprised there's only one R3 1.0u Shift in this set.

Sigh, my edit wasn't fast enough for your reply.
Mostly I'm just surprised there's only one R4 1.0u Shift in this set.
But that's fine. I guess I never realized how popular the default Planck layout is until now.
I can accept that this set is not for me.
Cheers.

Personally I would have liked a second R4 shift as well, but I can work around that.

lol I love the keyboard community. All the nepotism and superiority. Everyone is an OG and if you don’t agree get off the forum attitude. Anyways did this ever Happen? Will it happen if not? Isn’t summer over?

Is it too late to add a 1u r3 Ctrl or ambiguous legend like Data or Read (both molds exist) to the kit?

Thanks for considering!

PS: GMK does allow multiple quotes up to a certain limit.

MT3 ortho kits are sensible, providing two R4 Shift keys & one R3 Enter. That's how I like my GMK ortho sets too. Enter belongs on R3 or higher as with ISO keyboards.

Unfortunately it's too late - earlier on in the ic I had several polls for extra keys to add to the set and this didn't come up :/

However the GB date is now set for September 12th and will run for a month until October 12th ;D

Yeah. That's on me for not bringing it up. Fortunately I have some blanks coming.

Will be joining on day 1. Thanks for making this kit!

i didn't mention it here, but the gb started a few days ago. still awaiting for thread approval so i'm just bumping this.

keeb.io is also purchasing a large number of extras so MOQ should not really be a problem with this set. additionally I may have some news in the coming few days to do with some updates to this kit :D
