Help purchasing a keyboard
« on: Sun, 16 August 2020, 23:31:22 »
Hello, i hope im asking this in the right place.

Long time ago i bought a steelseries 6gv2 mechanical keyboard and bought lots of lovely keycaps here. Unfortunately the keyboard started malfuntioning and registering multiple keystrokes on a single touch. Not sure why but at the time i decided to stop using mechanical keyboards and bought a cheap 15$ Logitech keyboard that i have been using to this day.

I still have all those lovely new keycaps i bought and i really want to try out another keyboard.

I would like some advice on what to purchase from people that been using them, what are the more durable keyboards i can buy that rarely have issues? I remember that Filco used to be recommended but thats it.

The vast majority of keyboards are going to be reliable enough. Sounds like you just got unlucky before.

Most brands should be fine, both the cheap ones and the expensive ones. The only generic advice would probably be along the lines of avoiding 'gaming' brands where you're paying a marketing premium.

You didn't really specify a size or price.

Mechanicalkeyboards.com is a good place to start, it will cut out any off-brand chinese stuff you find on Amazon. There's other places and other brands but they cover a pretty good amount with good brands and prices.

I just want a simple keyboard, i would prefer without Numpad and no leds.

Is Filco Majestouch-2 tenkeyless a reliable option? Or should i look elsewhere?

I think the Filco is a very good option for the needs you mention.

There's better bang for the buck options, but Filco is never a bad choice for a good solid board.

I would also look at Ducky and Leopold.
