How to reduce activation force with White Alps? (Fukkas)
« on: Thu, 16 December 2010, 12:24:19 »
I currently use the Sigma AFK-7100MC. I find that the key presses are lighter than my previous old rubber dome keyboard and so it is more comfortable than that. However, I have had a try on the Apple Aluminium Chiclet keyboard and the standard OEM HP low profile keyboard and found that I enjoyed typing on them more.

This was directly down to the activation force...I liked the lighter keys...

So, here is my question; how should I go about reducing the activation weight of the White Alps Fukka switches? I heard that one can cut the springs to shorten it, therefore making it lighter but I fail to see how I would achieve this evenly on every switch.

Thanks in advance guys.

from, the guy who is about to leave his first ever mechanical keyboard for an Apple Aluminium one...

If you don't mind a linear key feel, you can remove the tactile/clicky leaf in the switch, which will give you a substantially lighter, but linear feel.
