Is there such a thing as PCB mount tenkeyless?
« on: Sun, 20 February 2011, 02:19:30 »
I'm interested in a tenkeyless with Cherry clears, but since no such thing exists and I don't know how to solder I'm wondering if there are any PCB mount boards that would be easy to do a switch mod on. I'm guessing not, but it's worth asking, right?:noidea:

I don't know of any, but you could mod a Cherry G80-1800, then remap the keys in either software or by routing wires on the PCB. But then, if you could reroute wires on the PCB, then you should also be capable of replacing the switches by soldering.

There are some Cherry boards in a space-saving layout, but not truly "tenkeyless". There's one on PCHome I believe with nkro and browns. Would you be interested in something like that?

Only prototypes, but the G80-1800 and MX-11800 are compact, have a tenkey and are PCB mounted.

Possibly. When searching for the Cherry G80-8113HRBUS-2 that you have in your signature, I did notice a few POS boards that look similar, but with the tenkeys cut off. Are those what you're talking about?

They're a little smaller then a fullsize, but was hoping to get closer to Filco tenkeyless size.

Might be time to learn how to solder, huh?

he's probably talking about something like this, it's got browns:

compact but not a "tenkeyless", I've got one of these at home for my parents.

The Cherry SPOS MX is ultra compact, about the size of a typical tenkeyless board (maybe a little taller). PCB mount MX browns. Only problem is they're rare.
