That's funny. As much as I enjoy typing on this Filco Brown, I'm probably gonna end up springing for the Majestouch 2 104 w/ Reds, since I need the tenkey for Pro Tools anyways. I totally understand what you mean about the keys feeling "dirty".

I am a brown user and I like the booby feel while typing. What a sexy feeling!

I can see on your sig, that you already got your Majestouch 2 with reds, any thoughts in comparison between browns and reds? for gaming? for typing? what about the sound? which one you like the sound more?

I made that post before updating my sig, and yeah, I've had it since Monday. For typing, honestly I prefer the browns. And the sound I prefer the browns as well. But for gaming, there's no comparison: Reds all the way.

It's quite a different feel (at least to me) between browns and reds. For some reason, it feels to me like the browns are actually lighter. That's probably just because they have the tactile bump and my fingers know when the switch actuates, whereas with the reds I tend to bottom out more just to make sure that I hit the key. YMMV, but I would say that I like them both roughtly the same. For long periods of coding and typing though, I'd probably prefer the browns.

As far as sound goes, the browns I feel have a more solid "thunk" to them, which is what I love so much. The reds aren't quite as consistent, with the key making a sound only when you bottom out, except for the light hiss that the switch makes as it travels. I honestly prefer both of them much more than the blues. After using the browns and reds, my Das Keyboard w/ blues feels loose and "crunchy".

Hope that helps :)

I agree with you on the Reds, typing on them currently and it feels like you're typing on...nothing.

But I love em, I can just barely touch the key and it'll register a keypress haha, it makes quick typing really nice.

To each his own though.

True that. After rocking the reds and browns for so long, coming back to the blues feels really weird.

Thanks for you input daerid, today, finally, after such a long wait, my keyboard arrives and I'm desperate to try it!
I really want to hear some more about blues since reds and browns are so similar, odds are that my next board will be blues.
Also, how does it feel to have a red switched spacebar? is it too light or something? I've been thinking about doing a mod to my keyboard and replace it with a black switch...

It's not bad at all, imo. But then again I generally adapt my typing style to the switch I'm using after a couple hours, so if you're used to pounding on the space bar, it might be too light. Of course, I don't have anything to compare it to really, as I've never tried Blacks.

I don't think I could hate reds. But I'm not sure I'll like the blacks, since I prefer lighter switches in general. After this weekend though, I've concluded that I prefer Browns the best. Will probably get either a full size with browns, or a brown ninja next month.

even on my switches its possible to write like on clouds.

in the end its up to oneself. you wont buy a keyboard for prestige, you should buy one wich feels and fits best to yourself.

i am writing a lot on my switches and get them only at 2mm,

first 2 weeks with my switches
after that
blacks
then
browns
and after browns
reds
or topre

if you wanna the  ultimate klicky keep ibm model m
less force
mx blues
or matias

thats what i learned and discovered for  me right now about them.

problem is.

sometimes you want to have some fun on mx blues or bucklingspring action, sometimes you re pissed of pressing something at all, so you prefer reds.

and if you want a good thing between klicky and cloudy you go for browns. in my eyes they provide a faster typing comfort because of this little bumb. not bottoming out lets you fly over the keyboard and reds wont avoid you sometimes to bottoming them out.

I've only recently gotten my first mechanical keyboard (Filco Tenkeyless) with blues, and I'm already dying to see what other switches feel like.  People -really- seem to like their browns...

This conversation is getting old. Browns and reds feel pretty much identical. It all comes down to personal preference. They're both better.

@looserboy: are you talking about "MX switches" when you say "my-switches" ?
