If you have a german board like this, can you just replace the keys with english keycaps and use like normal in english? Or will you have to tweak the OS to recognize it?

... That's what the 'choose your keyboard layout' thing is when you install your OS.

Pretty sure Windows will just assume it is an English layout....if you are running Windows in English.

The problem I have is that the small shift and enter key would drive me nuts.

I talked to this guy a few months ago. Was going to buy two G80-1501HAD from him, one with grey modifiers and an all-white one, both apparently without cables

habe noch zwei liegen aber ohne Kabel. könnte man als Ersatz Tastatur nehmen wenn man die gleiche hätte. Muss man eben das Kabel anlöten.

He even sent pictures and all but in the end stopped replying to my e-mails. Weird fellow.

It looks very clean:
Of course it does. You typically (used to) find these in medical practices - definitely the sort of place where people would be anal about hygiene.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

You wouldn't want to replace those state of the art doubleshot cherry keycaps! They even come with sexy umlauts.

if you haven't figured it out yet, it is for sure an AT/XT switch. all the old G80-1800s have them and the Dolch boards are just retrofitted G80-1800s.
