Keyboard Failure! Help with troubleshoot?
« on: Mon, 17 October 2011, 18:56:55 »
I recently purchased a mechanical keyboard by ThermalTake (Meka G1). After a few days, I started getting the "Keyboard Failure" during the boot-up phase. It asks me to press F1 or F2 to continue/configure bios settings, which is funny considering the keys don't work...

Anyway, reconnecting it to the USB seems fixes the problem, except the problem comes back when I boot into Windows, so I have to reconnect again. I have tried different USB ports, same problem. I never had this problem with a membrane keyboards, so I'm really confused as to why this is happening.

I have also flashed the BIOS to a newer version, but the problem persists when I boot into windows. I'm not sure what the next steps are...

I'd send this in for a replacement if I can somehow confirm it is a hardware issue...

Try replacing the USB-Cable with a different one.

I have not tried this, I do have a laptop but it is rather inconvenient to set it up. This does NOT happen every time I boot up, which makes me think it might be hardware malfunction...

The cable is not detachable..., it's one of those military grade cables with several outlets including sound and mic...

Just tried it a bunch of times on laptop. Unplugging it and plugging it back in, 80% of the time it says device not recognized... I think this warrants for an exchange...

I'd RMA it. That doesn't seem normal. Not a bad choice in board, though.
