Identify this: large clicky video editing keyboard

Was watching the Late Show with Letterman the other night and during the Top Ten list, Tina Fey made an appearance on number 3. You can see the clip here.

The interesting part:

As can be heard in the video clip, it does click.
Anyone seen one before?

What...the URL is the same for both the full episode and just the clip of the top ten...

Edit: ok, try this. She's on number 3 in the list.

hmm it reminds me of the WEY terminals. Also, I have been suspecting some SONY Broadcasting terminals might have mechanical switches.

Heh, looked at GeekHack for the first time in a long time the other day...

And well, Link

I'm no Cherry expert, but it seems to be Dye Sub with MX Blacks. And nice LED display, looks expensive.

I take requests for making keyboard converters (i.e. *old keyboard* to USB).

And Sony linear switch console here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SONY-BVE-900-VIDEO-EDITING-KEYBOARD-/360394163438

Not sure if the one I encountered was a BVE-900, but it was at least almost identical to that.

I was surprised to find that it had tactile switches. Roughly the same force as Cherry MX brown, but with a clear, defined tactile point and action as smooth as Topre.

I tried getting one of the keycaps off to see what switches it used, but the cap was on too tight, and I didn't want to spend the money on it considering that it has too few keys to be put into even a 40% keyboard. If anyone were to find a pile of them at once, though, they're worth investigating how Sony managed to get such precisely tactile switches that don't click.

(Granted, even Acer switches feel beautiful when poked with a finger – it's when you sit down to type on them that you realise they bodged the design.)

Dammit, I was so close to buying one of these, but arranging for shipment from out of state was going to be a huge hassle...

So I settled for that "other" board I mentioned. :P

I love that brushed metal plate! So much nicer than the red plate you see now (which reminds me of a spider's chelicera sockets under camera flash)
