WTF is wrong with my monitor?!

So, about a month ago I noticed I had a pixel that was stuck, and would change colors depending on the background.
It has been growing pixel-by-pixel everyday, and now looks like this! The weird thing is, you can see under the blotch. It's faint but you can.
And just a few days ago, I noticed one forming at the top of my monitor too.

That is quite unique.  Mine has a vertical line from top to bottom until the monitor warms up, it has occasionally been 2 lines ~4 pixels apart.  I haven't figured out which color(s) are off because that requires effort.

What model monitor do you have?  I can't imagine a failure mode that effects individual pixels like that.

I have a HP w2207h
I think it's a little over 4 years old. It was damn expensive at the time too.

Looks like your monitor is creating a rift to another dimension.

There is a dead pixel remover written in Java floating around the net. If that doesn't help, you can try rubbing the spot gently. If that doesn't help either, then I guess the're permanently gone.

My guess is that something got inside the display and is slowly damaging the transistors on it's slow return to gravity. I hope that's not it, though. New monitors are expensive!
