Plate mounted 60% boards
« on: Mon, 20 August 2012, 12:58:14 »
Do they exist? Or are we pretty much stuck with Poker/Pures?

If Vortex ever delivers the orders for the Poker DIY, I ordered a plate from there. If there were enough interest, I'm sure someone here is good with CAD software and could design a plate to fit the Poker and/or Pure. We could maybe order plates from the same place that made the Phantom plates. It would require desoldering all the switches and remounting, though.

if someone gives me a AutoCAD file for a plate, I can get it quoted for a price. I asked in the phantom round 2, but no on gave me a autocad file. They told me to draw it myself, which I could do but only at work and I don't want to do that :(

Previously, the plate design was shared, but there weren't any measurements to it. The file might be still around.
Are those usable for you?

If you can get the drawing files for the Phantom PHANSIWIN plate, maybe you can just cut that down.

they do indeed exist.  ;D
This one's custom made however. I could probably do it for you if you send me the poker/pure. It will cost you though  ;D

I just need a DWG file (AutoCAD) so that I can send it to my companies laser/water jet guy. He doesn't need dimensions because his CNC program should just cut the lines shown in the dwg file

The file has numbers but no units in it, and as long as you specify that they are in inches, as well as provide the thickness and material they are ready to be made. I asked Bphiphany and he gave them to me since I may do a second round of Phantom plates in stainless steel. Ask him and I am sure he'll give the files to you.

Damn squirrel, that is sexy. How does it feel? I couldn't stand the feel of PCB mounted browns, but they're my favorite switch when plate mounted. I'd love to have a small plate mounted 60% (possibly with custom re-programmable firmware ala Teensy++ or similar) that I could bring around with me.

It feels great!! Much more of a solid feel when typing. It makes the poker feel so much higher in quality too.   :D

I have someone here that I can get to cut out plates if anyone is interested. I would have to get a quote depending on how many plates are needed.

I will shoot him a pm with a dwg file and see how much they would cost to make. When i get a reply back, and its all possible, I will start up a group buy, if people are interested.

Edit: PM shot, waiting for reply.

Let us know once you get the quote. How many did you ask for? I have some prices for different quantities of plates in stainless steel.
