Need a small portable keyboard recommendation
« on: Sat, 30 March 2013, 19:50:42 »
Im thinking scissor switch.  Bluetooth would be nice but not necessary.  (Relatively) Quiet. And cheap. Cant be spending all my monies on a non mechanical...

I want to use it with my nexus 7, xbox, and for occasional quiet (but competitive) nighttime gaming

Im thinking Microsoft Arc...  but thats because its the only keyboard i have found so far that actually looks decent

Thanks in advance.

Cherry G84

$16, free shipping, mechanical low-profile keys. I have one and it feels great. USB not bluetooth though.

Actually, I was looking for a use for mine, and I totally forgot about the XBOX, thanks!

Completely forgot about ML switches. Thanks!

but are they really that much better than scissor switches?  I only ask because of the lower profile of scissor switches.  But if ML is really much better then i will go with that Cherry keyboard.

I have one of those G84's and I don't really like the feel of the switches. They're too scratchy compared to MX. You'd also have to press at the center of the keys, otherwise even a little bit off-centered and it's much stiffer to press down. But then again, you can get a board with ML switches for a lot cheaper.

Any wireless recommendations? I would need a usb extension cable if i do end up hooking it up to my xbox and the wire with a tablet might be a bit off putting. Im feeling wireless would be the more practical of choices right now.

Edit: Maybe something like that apple keyboard? Bluetooth for tablet. Then find a bluetooth to usb adapter for xbox and pc?

Check out Lenovo's Thinkpad USB keyboards. I think they are the best of the scissor switch boards.

Personally as far as scissor switches go, I'm a huge fan of the Apple Bluetooth keyboards.
