Just ordered a KMAC 2

Is there a page or something somewhere with assembly instructions?

Thanks! I saw that a little while ago, although I can't listen to the sound. The board is fully programmable, right? How does that work? Does it run off a Teensy or something like the Ergodox?

If anybody could answer a couple of quick questions about this keyboard I'd be much obliged:

1. Are the key-switch covers removable post-installation?
2. Anybody know how to get a hold of the guy who's doing the assembly? I'm ok with soldering but my PATIENCE seems to suffer a lot lately. LOL.

TIA

1. No
2. There are a number of people who do assembly, no one set person.

Actually I can answer one of my own questions. This thread has the software to remap the keys: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=30875.0

I guess that means it's not totally programmable like an Ergodox, in that you can remap the keys but you can't supply your own firmware.

I'm sure you could supply your own firmware if you knew what it used as the controller and found the bootloader for it.

Well yeah, but it's not going to be as simple as "open up the Arduino app" like on something with a Teensy. :)

I'll need to play with the remapping tool tonight, see what weird stuff I can do with it. It would be really nice if I could set up a key chord to, say, switch between Sholes and Dvorak.

That's my video. I've built a couple of them, but there are a few other people capable of assembling also, like esoomenona said.

You won't be able to remove the switches once assembled. The only custom Korean boards with this feature are the LZ keyboards.

These were directly from Korea some times last year. But right now, you can get them through sherryton. Although I would ask him if they're actually available and ready to ship.

I ordered it from Originative; it got here today. Looks beautiful! I'm just waiting on switches and such now.
