What do you guys use to store your Artisan Mouse Pad?
« on: Tue, 28 May 2013, 22:55:08 »
I generally store them in the cardboard box it came with.  But recently I realize the cardboard box is actually slightly curved at the edge (imagine putting very thick items in an envelope).  And it wrinkles the edge of my mouse pad slightly  :(

Any suggestion on an cheap and effective way to store them?  Since they're kinda expensive so I plan to take good care of them  :P

I don't have an artisan pad, but I do have the SS I-2 which is made of glass and a tad more fragile than a QcK. I always put my I-2 back in the polystyrene shell it came in, then put that back in the original box.

When I get an Artisan I'll probably store it in a cupboard with nothing else on top(maybe except for another Artisan pad).

What do you mean 'store'? Don't people generally use their mouse pads untill they wear out/ feel like getting a new one? Do you seriously put your mouse pad away when you're not using the computer?

Anyway, Artisan pads are high quality but poorly built. The edges will always fray and curl up on most cloth models, and pads like the Hayabusa develope these wrinkles, but all that should matter is the center of the pad is in good condition.

Some people have more than one pad, particularly first time Artisan users as I often see people ordering nearly one of each type since they aren't sure which one they prefer until they've tried it.

Halverson which ones do you have so far?  I currently have Shiden, Hayate and Hien.  I find different ones perform better on different mice.

So I don't really have a favourite one per say for now  :P

And I wish I have extra cupboard to store things, my room is too messy  >___>  lol

I bought 4. Shiden, Shiden-Kai, Hayate, and Hien. Ended up enjoying Shiden or Shiden-Kai the most. But the white matched my setup so I use that. My one roommate ended up buying my Shiden-Kai and the other roommate ended up buying my pink Hien. My hayate is my backup/keyboard mat. I really like the smoothness of the Shiden, and have gotten very used to it.

Mine hasn't fray yet but yeah since I have 3 so I kind of rotate between them.  So maybe not too much abuse yet lol.

My first Artisan pad is the Shiden I also like it a lot.  But my Naga cursor jump on it (Philip Twin Eye Laser) so I was "forced" to buy a Hien. (By forced I mean have an excuse to)  I got the Navy one but it's really really close to black =________=  Japanese has weird sense of colour, my Hayate is also "Japan Violet" but it's really black.

Lol though now I'm using G9X maybe I should bring out my Shiden again.  I like the uniform speed in all direction also how soft it is.  That and the white look nice in pictures  :D

I bought a Shiden xsoft a year ago, I store it on my desk as I don't need anything else. I've spilt tea, water, oil and poured a tonne of sweat into this thing through long Australian summer CoD and BF3 sessions, it looks like **** but it still performs like nothing else.

That doesn't seem to be the original Slimblade ball, where'd you get it? Seems like finding replacement balls for the Slimblade is a pain.

lol I had Scarab for a brief little while, I have to say that case is pretty neat.

Mmmmm...... Artisan box is not very good for storing its own pad.  Unless you used a different box...  And I have those rotating office chair with wheels, no room under my seat lol.

LOL I have to admit your Shiden does look like it has went thorough a lot of beating.  But I have to say while it's shiny and new, Shiden is definitely one of the best looking soft pad out there.

It's a rock I bought on ebay, was a bit costly and a bit of a risk, ebay sellers are very casual about the diameters of their rocks. It's not perfect, but it's workable. Very scratchy due to a a lot of minuscule surface imperfections and it occasionally jams so I suspect it's not perfectly spherical or just a fraction too big.
