Little help finding the right connector
« on: Fri, 07 June 2013, 04:20:44 »
alright guys I need a touch of help finding some connectors I need for a project.  I am wanting to build a cable for between my PC and my keyboard case that I am going to be building.  The problem is I need way more than 4 connectors that USB uses.  I have decided on using the old Centronics 36 connector used for printer cables that used the bail lock.  However, the first cable that was male to male had a review that said not all the pins are used.  I can find the panel mount receptacles that I would need from digi key but need a little assistance in finding male plugs for this that I can deal with the looks of.  The only ones that I can find have this ugly screw clamp deal for the wires that come out of the shroud.  This is something I do not want.  If someone could point me in the direction on where to find blank plugs with solder connections and good looking shell it would be greatly appreciated.  If I have to buy a cable that has plugs that can be disassembled that would be fine as well.  Any help in this would be awesome.

Why not buy a ready-made cable of the type you want, and only cut one end? At least the visible end would be clean and strong, and you could connect what you wanted at the back.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Because of what I want to do with the cable sleeving and in a way both ends are visible due to the computer case I have.  I have one of the Silverstone cases that have the motherboard rotated 90 degrees so all my I/O connections are on top of the case under a mesh panel
