« on: Mon, 19 August 2013, 08:47:24 »
Just a headsup guys, seems Ducky's releasing a Ducky with Cherry Clear switch and PBT key caps (looks like white LED back light)....

I'm so getting it!

I was hoping they hadn't given up on releasing 'new' boards with clears!!

of course that kind of looks like a shine 2.

Are you sure those are PBT? They look like the standard ABS caps that the Ducky boards have. Do you have a link or another picture for this information?

The local distributer posted this pic, and promised that it'd be out soon....I asked him to reserve one for me. It's not cheap, more pricey than a regular Ducky Shine KB, whether it's Shine 2 or 3, I can't say. If I get it soon, I will post some pics and my impressions....

Those look like ABS caps, PBT is not as glossy from what I've seen.
I am bigfatmc over at other places!

Found a post on facebook by Ducky Keyboard Singapore: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=544436068956167&set=a.517338344999273.1073741828.517337508332690

Ducky Clear switch with PBT keycap ! -Coming soon - $219
I assume that's Singapore dollars...so that's about US$171.

Anyway, they really look like the standard shine caps.  Could the paint/coating be the same but the base plastic be translucent PBT?

The local distributor in my neck of the woods has agreed to keep one piece aside for me, seems there is some interest in rare switch types. I'm hoping it comes soon, then I can pick up both the YOTS and the Clear.......

Edit - BTW, there's also a Ducky Rubber Duck Edition expected out in October in very, very limited quantity. It has yellow case with yellow PBT key caps....though I've heard that it's available with Cherry Red, yeah, a downer, right?

The Wasd V2 Code with white backlights and MX clears will be out in a few days per their most recent blog post on their site. I think that would be a good TKL or TK alternative to the Ducky in the short term as the Ducky is probably still months away.

I'm not sure there has been or will ever be a ducky TKL with clears....or did I miss something?

No, I don't think you did. To my knowledge there has never been a Ducky TKL with clears. I think the general sentiment was "ducky board with MX clears" and several people want TKL versions. This is why I was pointing out the upcoming Wasd V2 code which comes in TKL and TK sizes with Cherry MX clears and backlights.

thats weird, what is the point of making the keycap PBT if they are putting a coating on it that will wear away anyway... the whole point of pbt is that the plastic is durable.

Gotcha! Occasionally ducky does a very limited release so I thought maybe they did or were going to.

Yeah see the pic I posted above of a Ducky Shine II promo pic....I'm thinking they just reused a promo pic.
