for like 99.5% of the g80-xxxx boards the answer will be yes they are PCB mounted switches

Yes all but some rarer earlier models and the newest 3850 are PCB mount. You can pick up several common models for real cheap a lot of the time and they certainly are easy to work on for doing mods to.
