Ducky Shine 3 TKL
« on: Sat, 09 November 2013, 19:35:34 »
So I just got my ducky shine 3 TKL in the mail and I love it so far. Only problem is there is a squeaky sound coming from the spacebar and its quite annoying. I heard you just lube the cherry type modifiers and it usually goes away. Does anyone have a clear cut answer? And if so, can you please link me the product I need.

Thanks in advance everyone!

If you go to the classifieds section and check out the Geekhack store, they sell lube which you can use, and I think you can get an applicator also. I would think that any oil would be okay, but I could be wrong in that, don't follow that advice.

It'll be much easier if you're lubing the stabilizers before they were installed, but since that's not an option anymore try maneuvering around to all exposed parts that are moving.

Oil is not ideal because it won't stay in once place over time. You'd want grease, or a mixture of grease/oil. It also needs to be plastic and metal safe.

Coolio, thanks for that! Now I'll know how to lube my blues if I ever feel like doing so.

I have brown switches :D

Oh for the squeaky problem, I managed to fix the problem with some mechlube 2. On http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,misc&pid=mechlube_2 they have a picture of exactly where you need to lube, but do remember in the picture the stablizer bar runs under the key board and is flipped so it runs to the keys not to you when typing. You will see when you lube it compared to the picture. The problem completely fixed and it feels much better ! =)
