This Taobao ad posing as a 'great find' has convinced me that I really need to reduce my geekhack involvement. This forum is really too commercialized. I am fed up with the subtle and not-so-subtle manipulations by people with things to sell.
Unique? Lots of things in the world are unique. Why don't you collect them all? Stamps, phone cards, iphone covers, whatever.
And outside CoolerMaster and Razer products, probably all mechanical keyboards are 'limited edition' anyway. Even a fairly common model from a big manufacturer like Corsair or Ducky probably has a production run of no more than a few thousand.
Cost is probably no more than $80. The rest - pure profit, derived from suckers who are perpetually looking out for keyboards that look slightly different from other keyboards.
Im sort of surprised people are complaining about price. Many people here wouldnt hesitate to fire off 300-500$ for a korean board, and here we have a limited-edish Cherry board that looks very sharp and has some amazing caps. The packaging looks collectible as well. As a whole, isnt this thing made of the kind of novelty **** we all drool over anyway?
Another thing I like about it is that its sort of a nod to the "enthusiast" community. I do wish it was cheaper and more available, because frankly I want to buy one. Its probably a bit overpriced but nothing to scoff at. In comparison, most of our keyboard gear is relatively overpriced when a 15$ rubber dome can get the job done.
