  • all about the "hack" in "geekhack"
I was considering bidding on this, but now I'll let GH have at it. These are pretty common, so I'll wait for the next.

Judging from the way the caps lock key looks in the picture, this one looks identical to all the MX clear versions I’ve seen pictures of, and distinctly different from the other (foam and foil?) versions.

Is that thing just gotten for switch harvesting?

I assume you could also try to put a teensy in there and get it working.

Keep your keyboard layout on a floppy disk!

Is that thing just gotten for switch harvesting?

Is it even usable for modern purposes? It's huge, it sucks power, it needs modding, it's got a distinctly uncool looking floppy drive... the only people who could want to buy it are those desperate for clear switches...
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

If you're gonna mod (and you have to to make it talk modern), do it right and fit a new controller into the existing matrix. As a side result, this eliminated the power-hog thing entirely. As for the floppy drive, it's cool visual piece at this stage.... Or you could replace it with a little matrix display or something else fun to complement the existing matrix display. Personally I'd turn it into a dock for my phone.

I know everyone said this looks like the one with clears but I'm just scared I'll get another foam and foil :P

Look at the caps lock key. It’s the same as this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380370298939

The caps lock on the foam and foil version looks like: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151216102438
