Because it annoys people.

Where have you been? Jail? Prison? Jury duty?

School. And watching MLP. And I thought that the community was better off without me.

What is this MLP you speak of.. Could it be the infinitely haunting 'My Little Pony'

Joined for keyboards and also trackballs years ago.  Work from home so get bored from time to time and need a break so come here to read up and do a little post now and then.

When I started looking into buying a mech about a year or so ago, I did a LOT of research.  I ended up spending most of my time researching here on GH and I was really impressed with how helpful everyone was.  After I bought my keyboard, I kinda forgot about you all.  :-[  But then I started looking for another keyboard and realized I missed you all.  :)

I have been much more active in the past 4-5 months and I am really enjoying everyone on here.  I love all the ideas and the willingness to experiment.  I love trying things and thinking outside the box to solve problems.  This community really fosters that sort of contribution, so I have felt very at home here.

Now I am jumping head first into the modding and building game.  I have hundreds of switches headed my way as well as a couple pcbs, plates and I got a HID for my Filco.  I am all setup with soldering station and such as well, so I can't wait for everything to arrive so I can start putting some of this stuff together.

I have an idea for a super minimal case which "should" have a lot of really attractive features (as well as being low cost), so I am really excited to get my PCBs to start doing some testing.  Be on the lookout for this...  :P

I have been involved with many communities in the past and I have never felt as welcome and appreciated as I do here.  Love you guys...  :P

I first posted because I had seen one of those awesome, Nyan cat backspaces and wished to get one, after stalking around a bit, I ended up finding out where they came from, and a little camping the threads until I heard there where more inbound I got one :D (Its so awesome)

I ened up staying because I think most of the people on here are pretty nice people, spam even said hello to me first o: But I think I will stay because well there is always a bit of drama and something new and interesting going on, plus geekhack sort of fills in for my, "I should be working but Im finding ways not to do said work" but hopefully I stay for a while and have some good laughs and talks with all the lovely people :)

I just joined because I like keyboards, and because this place has a wealth of information. A lot of the people are friendly and helpful, and all around good guys. And lets face it, most of us are guys.

If any of my tips/suggestions help new members, then that's good enough for me.

Some cliche/saying from somewhere, "You become who you surround yourself with."

I may not hang out with any of you in person but by reading and interacting with you online I have learned A LOT and grown as a person.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Haha I noticed recently that I have become that guy as well, someone asks me something innocuous about my board and I will launch into a 20min "discussion" about keyboards.

I tried offering my signature as advertising space but that idea got nuked.

I used my signature as advertising space for Granite GB.  Many people clicked the link (according to matt3o's counter).  We reached 367 sets, some of which I like to think are the result of people finding the GB via my sig.  From that, we reached a relatively low price tier.

So from all that, I like to think that I saved money by using my sig :D

I really like this place since everyone is so nice and shares information about something I'm interested in learning about.

Which keyboard should I get next?

HHKB.

It's just sounds kinda steep but compared to the cost of 2 or 3 keyboards +shipping between now and when you realise that it's the HHKB you really want, it's actually quite cost effective. At least that is what I told myself  ;)
If you're not a fan of small boards or the slightly different layout then a 55g Realforce is my alternate suggestion.

Agree. By the time you buy a poker, add a case and a set of keycaps, you have already exceeded the cost of a hhkb.

I think this discussion has already happened elsewhere recently.
