Hello World
« on: Sun, 16 December 2012, 10:25:46 »
So I've been lurking on Geekhack for a little while and decided to make the jump and register. Why? Because this forum helped me to find out about the RA and CCnG sets. And that led me to buying the Valentine's set off TechKeys. Oh and a Filco.

I'm actually writing this on a Razer Blackwidow, which seems to not get a lot of love. I like to see it as baby's first mechanical keyboard. I spent countless hours researching switches and boards online but I had never typed on one. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars, I found the Blackwidow on sale for $60 and figured I'd do a little experiment. If the keyboards were truly that good, I'd upgrade somewhere down the line. The last 6 months have seen me becoming more and more obsessed with mechanical keyboards. I decided that I should finally upgrade.

I should be getting my Filco and the Valentine's set in the next 2 weeks. I can't wait. And I hope that I can find more awesome keyboard related goodies here. Perhaps a Klaxon or an RA clone hehe.

I know! I saw that recently and was drooling over it. But I always liked the black and white on keyboards. Maybe that'll be my next purchase. ^_^

Welcome to Geekhack!

Black and white sets available: http://keycapsdirect.com/marketplace.php

I do feel sorry for your wallet though - there are so many temptations out there.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Agreed and thanks! I must be strong and resist. Thanks for the link but I'm happily awaiting my Valentine's set. And I saw in the Keyboard Story threads that there will be a CCnBlue set coming out so now I need to save for that lol.

The CCnB is one of the nicest keycap sets I have not seen yet.  Apart from a set of yellow keycaps, CCnB is the one I am most waiting for.  Closely followed by the Toxic set.
