There's already a discussion in the Ducky mini thread.  :)

The case does look like metal, but I have a feeling it's brushed plastic, due to the 3 layer design.

Nice, classy design :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I love the Grey coloured case it gives it a superior style to most 60%ters out there.  Although the best would be always a Korean at over $400USD but very few people would jump on those.

If the price is right on their latest design I think they would shift vast quanities quite easily.  Keeping alive the love of the Cherry-MX for some years to come  :thumb: .

The size of the bezel is a big turn off for me. It negates what I feel is the whole point of going 60%, the size. Fancy-looking, but not my style. I think it would suit a TKL or full size board more.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Same here. It may look like metal from afar, but when you look closer it's much more likely to be plastic. Now there are great quality plastics out there, but when they try to pass it off as metal, I find the results underwhelming most of the time.

It could be layers of aluminum...?

When's the last time someone made a layered aluminum 60%?

I also don't think Ducky would spend the money on anodizing two different shades of gray.

I'm thinking that all 3 layers are plastic. :s Top and bottom being brushed-plastic to look like brushed aluminum.

I just don't see Ducky sandwiching 2 layers of brushed aluminum on plastic. It would require rigorous QC checks to make sure everything is aligned, and there's no excess gaps.

I don't mind the look, personally. It's interesting seeing different stock designs that aren't a tray-style rectangle for 60% boards. Ducky's probably marketing this case as a stylish 60% for users that aren't into $$$ CNC'd aluminum case.

The decline at the bottom is there to rest your thumbs if you have your keyboard close to the edge of your desk. Somewhat works as a wrist rest in a way -- making sure that your actual wrists aren't planted on the table.

Remember that Ducky did make a keyboard recently with an aluminium case top and plastic case bottom.

This might be just one step further.

it's the same style as the realforce.  which is arguably the BEST plastic case (at least in the front).  i LOVE that aspect of my topre board; it's really great to see that someone willing to use it at least once.

This might be just one step further.

But screwing in an aluminum case top into a plastic bottom is a lot easier than making sure 2 aluminum layers & 1 plastic sheet is sandwiched properly.

I'm guessing these pictures came from facebook?

Correct, sir.  :)

The minis aren't officially released yet, and will be "revealed" at Computex 2014.

Yep, facebook.....

When the gold version was coming out, was it on Facebook and their site simultaneously? Or facebook and then site?

I'm pretty sure everything gets "previewed" on social media first.

I would assume so. Now, if this ducky is hitting the market, we need to get the standard version before this metal one.
