Keyboard Use with Android (specific question)

I remember even posting in a thread last week (or was it 2 weeks ago?) about keyboards and android.

I ordered a JD40 which uses teensy and I forgot to ask if it should be compatible with my android tablet (Asus TF201)

If it's a question of firmware / software is there something I should check specifically when I get it? (I figure I can check if it works or not fairly quickly when I get it but just in case)

If your tablet does USB OTG, it should run a HID device out of the box. Thus, I would say yes.

I planned the layout for one-handed typing, including a locking switch for Fn.  Then I bought an "on the go" cable and it was then plug and play.

Kills battery life, however.

Samwisekoi is using the OTG cable that moose is referring to on his JD40 for his Nexus 7.

If you can't remember a post, you can always try looking through your post history. In the Geekhack top bar, click on Profile then go to Show Posts. By top bar, I mean the bar that has Spy, Watched, and Unread in it.

I remembered where it was and what was asked but it didn't deal with teensy but simply standard HID keyboards with android, which was answered and then the thread died. I felt this question was different enough which is why I made the thread

My tablet is purely for school use with like 12 hours of battery normally so I don't think it's an issue =)

also note, that some tablets restrict power output as a power saving feature, so some keyboards/items may not work without a work around.

Unless a keyboard draws a ton of power, or requires a driver to run, it'll work

Don't you have to use a host cable for the keyboard to work? Just google usb host cable to read more. I don't think a standard cable will work, will it? I have not tested yet (plan to when I have some time).

I should have mentioned the Poker 2 worked perfectly with the TF201 and the TF201 has a dedicated USB port
I was more making sure that the teensy should be recognized on android as a keyboard and be able to interact as such
