Are these UK IBM Model Ms?
« on: Sat, 01 November 2014, 10:15:36 »
First post, yay!
I was reading this http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=7210.0 and the first 2 links by Roaduck either had none in stock or the website wasn't there. The third (http://partsearch.bluegoosesystems.co.uk/ and search 1391406) did work and seems to be a Model M 1391406 with UK layout. I was wondering if these were also 1391406s or a different Lenovo part.

Any help is appreciated, because I would really like to get me a Model M for Christmas.

You did not say whether you were in the UK, but that makes a big difference. If you can spring for more money, ezrahilyer offers some really nice rehab jobs:

Do you feel the breeze? I don't want anybody going on me. We need every voter. I don't care about you. I just want your vote. I don't care."

They most likely do refer to the IBM 1391406. Ask the seller before paying (you can have them check the EC number or something. Other keyboards don't have one so you don't care what the number is: just the presence of it. Plus it's a number so you can pretend they are checking so you know it's compatible with your system and they are more likely to do it)

Unfortunately most "spare parts" websites are out of stock on items they say are in stock. You have about a 50-50 chance of them actually having it.

A good place to look for model Ms is a local e-cycler. Check the back side for model number.

Unicomp do a replace service. Would I be able to buy a 1391406 from them?

Just found UK Unicomp one on thekeyboardco.com which is £8 cheaper, so it's between that and the Bluegoose ones when they come in stock. Bluegoose is a bit cheaper and original IBM not Unicomp so will probably get that.
