De-solder switches from keyboard
« on: Sat, 08 November 2014, 07:00:47 »
Hi

I'm about to build an ergodox keyboard but I have trouble finding any Brown or Blue switches for it in Sweden. So, I thought I'd just buy a keyboard with those switches and rip it a part. Something like the CM Storm QuickFire TK.

Will that work?
Are the switches on those keyboards PCB or plate mounted?

Yes and they are plate mount. You can buy switches from mouser.

Shipping rates from the US + customs fee make it usually not worth it.

They have a Swedish store front too. I think their EU sites ship from EU not USA.

Price per switch at 100 switches: 0,80€. That's about a dollar per switch. Shipping costs are expensive as well.

You can get cheaper switches in Europe from 7bit.
