Best malware and virus protection for Linux Mint
« on: Fri, 31 October 2025, 13:30:43 »
Title says it. Through the years there have been multiple discussions about keeping your machine safe, but it has been a while.

Personally, I use Linux Mint with Firefox, and update them regularly. I like Duck Duck Go and use AdBlock Plus but little else.

Any good suggestions or warnings?

Thanks

And the last is the open, flamboyant corruption of Donald Trump — a corruption that degrades a people’s faith in government and makes it all the easier to remake the state in the image of a single man.

Linux is proactive towards security while Microsoft is reactive.
While Linux tries to fix everything based on threat, Microsoft is profit driven so bugs are triaged based on importance vs cost vs impact, so a security breach that is expensive to fix and only impacting a small number of people can exist for decades, in fact there was one that went from XP through Win 8.0 and possibly even still works. Hacks like this sell for huge amounts on the black market.

So long as you remain vigilant AND up to date (and an adblock), your system is more bulletproof than Windows will ever be, in fact most Linux anti-virus only exists to protect the Windows clients on the same network since Linux can serve as a backdoor for Windows vulnerabilities.

Linux is proactive towards security

Thank you, that is reassuring.
