There's a Korean and a Chinese thread. Let's form a Russian thread as well

How do you say grammar nazi in Russian? Do you use the same word as the Nazi in Nazi Invader? Or do you use a word that has had more time to enter the Russian language eg some imagery referring to Ivan the Terrible, Mongol Horde, etc?

oh yes, this leads me to a question. This might be a stereotype but do russians only drink (if not all the time) drink only vodka? what about single malt scotch? and what is the best vodka in russia? I only know smirnoff which originates from madarasia.

oh yes, this leads me to a question. This might be a stereotype but do russians only drink (if not all the time) drink only vodka? what about single malt scotch? and what is the best vodka in russia? I only know smirnoff which originates from madarasia.

I used to drink vodkas like Ketel One and Absolut, before I traveled to Russia. Now I can hardly drink a non-Russian vodka. In the US, Smirnoff is just a brand which is distilled here. Stolichnaya is still imported from Russia.

The Russians I stayed with in St Petersburg didn't really drink vodka at all, although they did have a small bottle in the house for guests. But I enjoyed several of the Baltika beer varieties I sampled while there. And I don't know how the kids I saw drinking openly on the Metro can stand to drink their gin and tonic from a can...yuck!

well, you're in mother russia.

gonna try to find stolichnaya in my place. absolut and smirnoff is nice but when you're drinking to a certain extent you would want to try the other things.

used to drink johnny walkers black and double black. transitioned to jack daniels after that. Now, Macallan has my liquor money. 25 year Macallan is the best I've tried, after 18 and 12.

Many Russians drink vodka. Mostly because they cannot afford better drinks. Sometimes because of the traditions. Once a Russian tries better spirits, it's hard to go back to tasteless vodka.

I like single malt whisky once it doesn't sink turf.

Smirnoff originated in Moscow.

Not sure about the best vodka or what the best vodka even is. Kauffman has good reputation here.
