I was going to enter this until I saw that you have to register with he-whose-pseudonym-should-not-be-expressed.

Now I will stay away on general principle.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

I'd imagine he'd ship at the cost of the winner though no?

It's nearly been a week since the guy said he would contact a winner and there still hasn't been an update. Interesting.

I've also been wondering about this, I haven't seen anything to indicate that he followed through.

I figured this would happen. Unfortunately, the whole reddit format does not promote accountability.

The whole affair smelled of fish.

Occasionally we do see Geekhackers "giving back to the community" but this "barn deal" seemed different.

The only decent reason I guess would be that the guy said he went to some friends place and found those. Well that means the friend probably didn't know what they were worth. Here is 800-1200 bucks friend. Or maybe they weren't really the 'friend's' keyboards to give away in the first place but a parent or relative. What I do know is one of the first things he posted keyboard related was an upside down SSK asking for help identifying it. Then said he had found 4 of them in boxes inside of a barn, and he was selling 1, giving one away, and he and the friend were keeping the other 2. Or something close to that. /r/mechmarket seems to show him selling 1 of them. So I just hope that if someone kept the other 2-3 that it would be whoever really owned them in the first place. That kind of money is not insignificant to most people, and it could have been OP being overzealous and not passing on relevant info before proceeding with his idea. 99.9% of the entries were going to not get a boxed SSK anyway so its kind of like the same outcome? Anyway I'm done speculating haha. I hope a friendship wasn't ruined over it, let the SSKs go to wherever they really belonged. Maybe thats in a barn somewhere all boxed up with a pile of dusty mice sitting on the floor beside it. I'd like to believe they went to enthusiast and the money went to the barn owner.

I can provide somewhat of an update on this. The guy who made the post is actually one of my closer Dota 2 friends. He said he still hasn't gotten around to shipping it, but he did pick someone in Canada. I think he even mentioned in passing that he would cover the shipping costs. He probably just hasn't gotten around to it because he's been working pretty long hours and has been pretty tired when he gets home. His job requires a lot of physical labor, so I'm sure it's hard to muster up the energy to do anything after working long shifts.
