I hear ya there demik.  Though I am considering building another keyboard tray for my AT and mounting the AT directily in the tray.  Mostly curious how it will affect the sound.

This one is over-the-top in seriousness, and has no sense of the joy and playfulness of demik's haiku, which is more zen, IMO.  Have you been enlightened?  If not, what can i say?  You are not ready.  Ponder this:  how can i type on Topre without hearing the sound of thock?  Within the question lies the answer.

You can't find something while you're looking for it.  Topre is not the answer, it's simply one way to find the answer.  Vintage blacks are very nice indeed, and are another path to the same end:  Kensho.  In order to type well, and without errors you must enter a place of "no mind".  A place that the English poet John Keats called "Negative Capability".  In that moment when you no longer think, but still type without errors or consciousness, you have caught a glimpse of enlightenment.  That is your first, albeit tiny, Kensho.  You have at least found the path.  You have caught a glimpse of the ox.



Touch typing is an active meditation (Om), for which you need a proper tool (Topre), and your mind is the means; your goal is enlightenment (Kensho).  This is active Kensho in daily life.  You do not need to retreat to a monastery to find your buddha nature.  The frog leaps into the pond right in front of you.  Why can't you see it?  Because you are looking too hard.  Type without thinking.  Type without ego.  Type without seeing or hearing.  Thock.  What's that sound?  When you can hear it again, that is your Buddha Nature.  Rejoice.

It's the only Topre board I've really enjoyed.  FC660C sucked, I didn't like the Realforces I've tried, and the Novatouch was meh.  HHKB is the only one worth getting.

yes, HHKB is super nice. After a week with it, it's all I want to type on! I can't believe how good it is. The biggest adjustment for me has to be the arrow cluster. I'm still working out the kinks with that, but the board makes me want to learn it lol. I have dip switches 3,4,5 on.

I tried adjusting to the POker's layout but really couldn't. Typing on Topre is a damn good breath of fresh air too.
