Need help with TKL MX Reds model
« on: Fri, 01 May 2015, 05:27:50 »
Hi guys, I'm new here but I thought I'd just start my first post with a question.

So, I'm looking for an affordable TKL kb that is easily customizable for the stealth/ninja look (side printed letters, not completely blank), which models should I be looking at? The Filco is just too expensive for me. If I had £££ then the Filco Ninja TKL would be "the one".

I've seen the Corsair K65 for £70 which isn't too bad, but I've read that you can't exactly swap out all the keys because of their own keycap design. Eventually I would like my keyboard to look something like this. And perhaps with red WASD keys as well:

I can't seem to find the cheaper CM Storm TKL stealth models here either, but from the US Newegg reviews, it looks like they easily break after a couple months of usage.

Any ideas?

The K65 dose not have standard layout, so I would avoid that if you are going for a custom set
I found my Shine 3 used for like $80, so a used keyboard opens up a lot if your budget is around ~$110

If you dont care about LED's or LED quality, the CM Rapid-i is within your budget I believe.

Cooler Master has some TKL that arn't too expensive like the Quick fire rapid i (http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/rapid-i/). They have many TKL with red switches.

What is the build quality like for the CM Storm QFR? Are they as bad as some reviewers make them out to be? I found a thread here dedicated to tricked out QFR's.

I don't care for the LEDs since I'm looking for a clean solid look. I've contemplated getting a used Ducky/Filco but worry about the lack of warranty considering a used one still comes with a high price tag.

From what I've seen after a bit of googling I've found that brand new, there's no price difference between a Ducky DK2087S and a QFR-i which is £90. A Filco is £100... so I really have no idea what is the best value for money here.

I can't seem to find the QFR Stealth TKL anywhere in the UK. Was a version not made for Europe?
