Pretty sure this one is some type of terrible rubber dome. Some (especially earlier) models of Panasonic typewriters used Alps switches.

That's a shame.  And I guess there aren't any Panasonic Toughbook laptops with decent keyboards either?

But at the very least you could pick it up personally, and then you'd get a trip to the UK out of it... Not bad!

Whoa. The industrial design of it... It looks like a video cassette player from the '80s with a keyboard. :)

I actually stumbled upon a sibling to this typewriter in a thrift store today. Not the exact model, but very close.

I pulled a key and checked. It has a coiled spring over membrane. The slider is integrated into the keycap, so not compatible with any mechanical switches that I know of.
The key action is linear and light with short throw. Creaky on off-centre key presses.
Nice texture on the keys though: gritty without being coarse.
